The group has an unique experience of long-term travels practically in all geographic and climatic zones and uses different locomotion modes. The group realizes successfully some large-scale projects.
1991 – “100 days along the Ural”. During 100 days the participants of the expedition over-passed all the Ural (3335 km) hiking, rafting along the rivers and cycling.
1994 – the expedition “North Pole”. For the first time in the world the travelers over-passed more than 400 km on drifting ice-floes hiking during 70 days.
1997 – the expedition “Along the Roads of Russia”. For 5 months travelers crossed Russia from Vyborg to the Cape Dezhnev (13895 km) by motorcycles, and also by foot and by rafts along the rivers.
The previous expeditions were summed up in the books: “100 days along the Ural”, 40 000 copies edition, “Ocean Hiking”, 10 000 copies edition, “Along the Roads of Russia”, 1 000 copies edition, besides that, two photo-albums (“Unknown Ural”, 25 000 copies, “The Ural”, 5 000 copies) were issued, as well as the books “The Beginning of the Long Journey”, 10 000 copies, and “The Most Beautiful Road”, 1 000 copies. Moreover, along all the time the travelers activity was accompanied by the regular publications in the central and local media press (more than 400 articles). Some films based on the material of the expeditions were made.
In the course of the expedition we are going to use all the existing contacts. Mass media coverage is expected to be more ambitious. Contracts with the many regional and central media are already made. During all the expedition route the current information will appear in the periodical press, as well as on radio and on TV. The documentary films, photo albums and books are planned to be released and published by the end of the expedition. Furthermore, the series of thematic photo-exhibitions and lectures by “the Hundredth meridian” expedition materials are ordered by the Russian Geographic Society and the Russian Union of Travelers.
All mentioned above serves for the further development of practice and popularization of long-term ecological travels. |
